I saved a tree which was wilting. It was really small and I made a post asking whether it could be a bonsai. Solaris said it needed moving to a bigger pot. I am going to get a pot soon. But I've recently trimmed the new shoots and wired it with some gardening wire which I know was not the correct thing to do but it's not a highly valued tree so I thought I might as well get some practice. I don't know what type of tree it is either. It's leaves looked kind of like the cherry in my garden.
Opinions?
One pic is of before wiring after I'd trimmed the new shoots down to about 2 leaves. And the second pic is when I first got it, and the third is with the wire on...
Opinions???
I've recently discovered some nice hawthorns growing in the wild and I've set them up for propagation, and I'm just using this tree to practice some techniques, eg ramnification and wiring.
It also has something resembling a uro on the trunk
Thanks for any feedback

It is really hard to say what species it is without a close up of the leaves. Also a couple of your photo's are blurry.
Your wiring is messy, Sorry just being truthful. It is good to have some practice material. I would suggest this course to get your wiring down.
Colin Lewis doesn't login anymore but it is still a great free resource
The Trunk needs to get thicker, It lacks taper. as far as a uro I can't see it but it could just be a wound healing over.
Please post a better picture of the leaves so we could better ID the tree.

Yes, I intend on reporting ASAP or in the ground if atall possible. I will update with better pics as soon as I can.
I know the wiring is very messy 1) because the wire is very thick and hard to bend and 2) because it is the first time I've ever done it and 3) I was making it up as I go along.
I just wanted to give it some shape of an older tree instead of all the shoots stocking upward and also to open up the leaves and branches for light...
I have a question... What do you mean by taper? Because I was thinking this was the most tapery trunk I'd ever witnessed first hand on a little tree like this except on junipers ect seen on the Internet.
Thanks for the derailed and swift answer!!!

Taper is about the trunk going from Thick to Thin (example /\ ) verses a trunk with no taper (example || ).
I hope you didn't get offended about my "messy" comment. You asked for opinions... Depending on how fast that tree grows (and if it is Spring time in your area) you need to be careful about the wire bitting into the wood. As the tree grows and thickens up it starts to grow into the wire and would create scars. This does take time but the time is shorter in the spring summer for this to happen. This is just an educational heads up.

Not offended at all! It is very messy! For some reason i don't think it will scar this time, because the wire is so thick. But im probably wrong ; it probably wont be doing much growing in this small vessel though. I don't really know when to take it off though. This tree is just practice though... Obviously i would like it to be nice one day but i don't care too much if it gets scarred, because that will be a lesson to me!
When do i take it off? should i plant it in a new pot soon? its sprouted new fleshy roots which are filling out the pot, however if i try and repot it i might damage this? also does it need a pot with more width? or height?

Let's start
1. Wiring very bad. You won't achieve a lot this way. It is not in the right angel and is in some places too thick. It is just a mess. You also shaped it as a juniper (which I can forgive you if it was done properly and nice but now it isn't).
2. The trunk lacks taper and thickness.
3. There is an ugly "v" shape in the apex. It just hurts my eyes.
4. Was the tree healthy? You should only wire a tree that is healthy (or if you can give the best care, and here it is inside so it won't be too good.)
5. If you ever want to make it a good project/practice material, let it grow in the ground.
6. It was not in need of "trimming it in order to get more light in the tree". It was already very thin in foliage.
7. Wire will always scar if you have the right thickness. Right now you've used the same wire for the bigger branches and the smallest. You've now wrapped the branch around the wire and not the other way around (how it is supposed to).
8. Now is repotting time (unless you live south of the equator). Get it in an airy mix but now you should put it in the ground. Outside. Where it belongs.
9. You will have something to work with in ten to twenty years. In that time go to a club, take lessons, get experience, work on better/suitable material, learn, practice. You may still have this tree and get to work on it (finally) but now just let it grow in the ground.
