Just leave it alone. If you think it stays wet too lobg, water it less and or place more sheltered. Just leave it alone. Do not pull itbout of the pot, that is distubing too..
In spring when root growth picks up, repot. Do a full repot, be conservative reducing main roots. It is a young plant and will survive easily.

Thanks for the advice & guidance leatherback, it's greatly appreciated!
It seems the plan is leaning towards doing as little as possible until early Spring which is fine with me. I can be patient as long as I know that's the right thing to do

It should grow well in North Carolina. Procumbens nana is a tough plant, it survive our 90-100F summer without any problem. As long as the soil is well draining, it should be OK to use. Like Leatherback said in a subsequent reply, when in doubt during repotting, being conservative is prudent. All plants need enough roots to survive.
