You now have a trunk with branches that only have foliage at the very end, and you will need years and luck to get the foliage near the trunk again. So next time you get plants, get plants that are bushy, with lots of green near the trunk
This tree was very very cheap. And when I saw it, I had something very drastic in mind. Problem is, as a beginner, what is in my head doesn't come out in reality. This happens with any art. I don't think foliage at the very end is necessarily a bad thing leatherback.
If this tree survives, someday I would want to achieve something like this:

I never had in mind a pretty traditional looking tree when I got this, but more of a really beaten up, barely surviving tree. And again it was only $5, and learned a lot from it already; the more you fail, the bigger the challenge, the more you learn. Too much of a challenge for a beginner, I learned that for sure. Start from the basics, then get all creative. Thing is, I have never been a rule follower, and creativity is my strength, so yes I will fail a lot on this hobby, and I have to work really hard to go to the basics. The pretty traditional looking trees are just so boring. I've always wanted this tree to look beaten up.

Oh really? I just was planning a trip to the shop to get some boxing gloves and a baseball bat.
