Hi, I am starting on this hobby. This is my first 名媛直播 ever. I got a shrub from gardener's store (juniper chinensis) and I am trying to grow as a 名媛直播. I have pictures of the shrub, I just can't find them! anyway.

Here is the tree after initial trimming and before re-potting. This is what I have to work with, a bit too challenging for begginner I think.

Here is the tree, about 3 weeks after re-potting, cleaning the bark and with some dead-wood initial work, I can't carve yet cause I don't have tools:

As LB said, you did too much to this plant. Also, you have interrupted great parts of the sap flow to the branches in the top.
This will affect the health of these branches.

It seems unlikely that this plant will survive.

Lets hope for the best, anyhow good that you showed your tree and have fun being here. The chances of the survival is 50%, but don't give up. I do rough thinks to my trees and killed a few in the process, but that is part of the learning curve. Keep it a little in the shadow since you decreased as motioned, by AUK, the sap flow, if it is in full sunlight you may worsen the stress. Good luck, keep on posting the progress.

You dove in super deep! Ha!

I'm agreeing with the others here. Lots of work done in short order, so keep your fingers crossed.

Junipers can be funny in their growth. They don't respond as well as deciduous when it comes to rerouting nutrients around damage. The live vein needs to be kept between root and foliage, which means a few of those branches just above your cuts will likely die back. The same can happen in reverse; when you cut a branch back, it can sever the vein and create a deadwood section below the cut.

For now, let it rest, recover, and grow. Keep us updated on progress, and don't give up on bonsai.

I won't give up. I knew it was a bad idea when I was doing it, I mean I didn't... I wanted to do just a bit, then I look back I am like jeez that seems like a lot :woohoo:. I tend to be like that, I get to obsessed with something and overdoit, I am also really impatient. Hopefully bonsai will help me with that...

I had extremely busy weeks so time seemed to have gone really fast. I didn't repot the tree 3 weeks ago I actually did it first week of April (which is early spring here, right before buds open) I created the shari about two weeks ago. There's new buds on the tree, and it looks ok. I know it is early to tell. But yeah my fingers are crossed and I am praying to the gods of junipers.

I'll let you know whatever happens, should be a good lesson for people like me who come to this forum.

Thank you so much for all the responses.

Oh don't worry your self, if you had a second chance, you'd do it again. No you didn't kill it, junipers sort of like it, when you beat 'em all up. Let it grow a few years (feed it, water it, repot when needed). It might just come out just, fine.

Just don't try to keep it inside!!!

kind of cute like this

I am not planning on bringing it outside, and I am building a cold frame for the winter. It gets to -30 where I live. Tonight we are going to have a stupid cold front, tempo will drop to 30 Fahrenheit. Is there anything I should do?. I mean the tree has waken up, and it is trying to recover from my aggressive mistreat, and now nature is going to beat it up too!. Damn...
