I kinda get lost in myself sometimes, I love these little projects because they provide experience
and practise .

Nice little tree, as per usual.
How much growth do you get on a rooted shimpaku in a year? Did you take a thick cutting?

Another tree that makes me think you're nuts thinking that it could survive in such a small pot with such a small vein left.
But it does live, looks healthy and it is not hard to see that this will get even better in the future. I'm impressed.

Yeah I don't get massive extension growth or anything crazy like that just steady growth most of the year long.
I usually take cutting which have a fair amount of good foliage on them and don't trim them back at all, just plant them up and usually they go ok.

:silly:

ha ha, not nuts but a little tree crazy maybe.
Seriously, when established they are not as hard to look after as you may think, I can have temps over 40 degrees celcius in summer and they do alright. Like I say, they are actually a good form of practise for everything from stying to watering , also they bring great pleasure to look at.

I have a juniper that has survived my maltreatment for more than 14 years now, so yeah, they can tolerate a bit :)
I have another and when I prune it, I routinely stick the clippings in a pot with soil. Surprisingly, they rooted easily.
As I pulled one from the ground... it lost these tiny roots, but strangely, it is still alive. I planted it months ago.
There's even growth - a good sign.

The clippings are to thin to be anything useful, but I might try a bigger one. Why not. It's free material ;)
