Hello as most of you might have read i'm Chris and i'm the new moderator on this site.
I've been mostly active on the dutch forum and have been lurking in the dark on this one for a while now, so i decided it's time to share some of my bonsai story's with you guys too.
Hope you like it. :)

This is about one of my Goyomatsu (japanese white pine)
This specific tree is an imported seedling. It has been grown and pruned back for several years in the open field in Japan before it was planted in a training pot. After a couple of more years they are ready to be shipped to other country's.
The reason i bought it was because it was grown from seed and wasn't grafted on a black pine.
This gives the trunk a much smoother look and i also liked the aged bark all the way to the top.
But it also as the con that the rootsystem is much more sensitive and more vulnerable to frost and overwatering.

It had been growing in the training pot for approximately 5 years and the roots and micorrhizae fungus grew out of the drainage holes.
I decide to give it some minor styling and pruned some older needles and repot it.
Normallly it's advised to not do more action than one at a time with White Pines but in this case i thought it would benefit the health and recovery of the tree.
I consulted a well known dutch bonsai artist about the repotting and with his advise on repotting and aftercare i decided to do so.
Long story but pictures say more. ;)

Camera set to sunny day setting, and image taken on a cloudy day. Some photoshop tweaking helps; something like this?

It's about 55 cm excl The pot pot is about 8 cm high just like The trunks diameter.
Tree is about 45cm wide.
So not a huge tree but not small either.

yeah photo's are not the best way to view trees especially when they are not taken by professionals.
It's hard to capture something 3D on something 2D. All the depth is missing.
In real life it looks way better and fuller, but i guess we all have that problem.
