It's a salix. That would work. It just goes to show you how much we have lost touch. We (as a species) used to know some useful stuff. haha

well i did know about the asprin thing if your in the woods and have a headache it doesnt taste good but chewing stems helps...birch trees taste like rootbeer . boiled tree roots sugar and carbonated water ;)

Nice tree! I think the shape is great, The height looks pretty good for the overall shape of the tree and if it was mine I probably wouldn't reduce the height I'd probably just put it into a larger pot. Plus it only needs a little wiring in my eyes, excellent score!
I'm hanging to get my hands on a Larch but they dont seem too common around me, I've checked a few nurseries but can only find them already as 名媛直播 and some are very old and big with even bigger price tags on them.
Anyone know if these are easy to take cuttings from??

well buna i think you may have missed page 2 of this post cuz it doesnt look good now. i think most of the top died but 2/3 of the branches have at least a few needles left. it will take some time but i will style it back to the original shape ...its the whole reason i bought it there were others with much more age to them but they had no style...as for cuttings i do believe any tree can be airlayered ,by the way were are you from?

good news there are new buds forming all over the tree i can see their little green heads poking out were the needles fell off.the top still shows no sign but it was being chopped anyway :woohoo:

One good thing about it happening now is that it was still early in the growing season. It would have been terrible in august.

i think i just made the season cutoff (no pun inteneded :P ) for root pruning im very sure now this ones going to be fine. i just loaded it up with a 12/8/12 slow release fert and i am going to start a liquid fert as soon i get out to buy some. im so happy this one didnt hit the compost pile

well this one's doin good ... needles reduced by half and lost a little bit of the top no big deal...
