Here is my first attempt at styling a juniper. I had a lot of help from what I guess is my bonsai mentor..pic one is the tree when I got it. pic 2 is it after initial pruning.

Beautiful material you have there, nice movement in the trunk! I would wire the branches and then do some more styling-pruning. After wiring it the way you want it to be, you can detail it more and more together with pruning, and I'm sure it will be a great bonsai. :)

This tree is resting in the shade for another week or so. I'm taking my time with this, and all my other trees. I have found that I can read all I want on my trees, but the best tool is experience. I don't want to do too much with this tree and realize that I went too far and undo any progress.
Slow and steady is my motto....mostly because I'm only 2 years into this obsession :)

Way to go, taking time to let the tree recover makes perfect sense! Good luck!

Hi Pinkham!

What a difference from before and after pruning...wonderful improvement! This is a great speciman. I'm looking forward to seeing photos of it's progression. Nice work and thanks for sharing. ;)
