Howdy all,
I had a little time so i figured i would show my new additions i have aquired over the last couple months.so first is this guy. he was a steal at $12.95 at a local nursery. after some wireing to bring down the branches and a repot i think its perfect. he's 12 inches tall from the soil.the pot works for now but i doubt it will last the winter, its a plain old ceramic pot i drilled holes in. works for now

Nice tree for 12.95. I love bargains. You know, right now all the big home stores are starting to mark down their trees. I got a boxwood for $5.00 a few weeks ago.

Lovely form to this tree, Keith. Good work! It's hard to believe he's only 12 inches high! Very cool pot and I luv the rocks around the trunk! Thanks for sharing.

thanks yall,
i want to go back to this nursery in the spring to pick up another and do a windswept style it's a 2 hour drive but the quality and prices can't be beat.
pinkam, i agree this is the best time to go to nurseries for discounts they are usually happy to sell stuff cheap rather than store them over winter.
i bought a coral bark maple last year at this time i poked around in the not so public area  and spotted a tree that had a broken trunk.. the owner was more than happy to give it up for 10$ and after a year and a air layer next spring i'll have 2 trees !!awesome!!

yeah, definately not one to listen to signs anyway that reminds me... i wanted to attempt training a bonsai ignoring all traditional styling rules, but after some consideration i realized i would need to basically have an unpotted tree growing upsidedown so i threw that idea out the window :silly:

Probably a good idea you threw that idea out, Keith.
How come we aren't seeing the progression of your Coral Bark Maple??? A broken trunk?...it's watching the transformation of those kind of trees that get really interesting!
