Just bought this tree for 75 dollars. It is from 2006. I had to cut a lot of root and i also cut a lot of branches because the previous owner make very weird bonsais and lets branches get way too long. If this tree survives and comes alive in the spring then I will be able to post more of its progression here.
June 2020.
4 January 2020 1: I cut two branches off before I took any pictures.
4 January 2020 2: looking at the big huge root wad the nursery owner never felt the need to trim back
4 January 2020 3: cutting the biggest portions of the big root
4 January 2020 4: Looking at the roots I left it to come back
4 January 2020 4: Picture of the finished product in a wooden crate with compost top-soil, vermiculite, red lava rock.
I hope it comes out of dormancy in March...
