Lots of possibilities.

Yes, better this way, lots of possibilities.
I want to call your attention that the current front is already slanted.
As for cascades, really I think this tree gives me more challenging opportunities. I am a little biased about cascading every single tree with a long branch. As the Junipers prostata, procumbens or horizontalis, *everybody* makes cascades out of those!

Agree completely. I really meant slant more.

There is an artistic issue. Technique X seems wonderfully appropriate. Everyone else is doing X. Should I do X or something else?

As people around here say, it's your tree. Show us pictures.

sorry man, I have ni idea how this species responds and what is realistic. I personally do not like that first branch, but I am not sure whether replacing it is even an option.

I've always loved this species as a landscape plant and I plan to start training one (probably more) this coming spring. Thanks for taking into bonsai training!

@Ivan Mann, as you can see I went for the slanted design, thank you!

I didn't prune it hard, managed to hide the "Y" branching, and created sort of a Pierneef style.
Now when it blooms again, the flowers will have a nice contrast with the new off-white pot from Sergio Onodera, or so I hope!
Thanks for all of you that commented and suggested nice possibilities, you people rock!

Very nice.

I have tried loripetalum a couple of times and killed them every time. Are they particularly hard to put in a pot? They grow everywhere here so the climate must be OK.
