Hi just joined the forum looking forward to interaction with you all.
Bought this tree 12 years ago. To cut a long story short, it died, but because if the potential of the trunk I decided to carve it with help from some bonsai friends.
The suggestion was, having done the carving, to graft 2 young junipers and train them up the trunk of the carved wood.
This is now the result after 2 years.
Q : Are there too many lush green pads for such a dead trunk/
Should the pads be opened more too show the branches etc etc
Any suggestions would be greatfully received.
I shall be posting some of my other trees of which I have about 30

Hey CLint,
welcome to the EMpire.
I think it is not too much. I am however uncertain about the styling. Not sure what it is though!

Hi, clint welcome.
I think the tanuki is gorgeous, nice deadwood work, and nice green pads.
Not sure about the lower one (too low?Too big?) But makes me want to see the other 29 trees !

That's a bold statement! I love the carve detail - beautiful deadwood trunk there. Maybe a bit of pruning to lower bout but overall I really like this - it's dramatic. BRAVO!
