My little alligator juniper had an impressive growth this season.
It was a twig in January, and now it needs unwiring and a good trim.
Remember j. horizontalis has a very basal dominance, so this is just an experiment to see if it keeps upright after the wires go off.
Would you guys make it shorter, or should I keep it tall?

How big a trunk are you going for?
If this is the final size, I would reduce by about 45%. Leave the main trunk and yin it.

In fact these little guys are difficult to get girth, specially in a pot.
Yes, that sounds like a good plan.leatherback wrote: If this is the final size, I would reduce by about 45%. Leave the main trunk and yin it.
Since I can bend the top branch crazily while still alive, this is just a matter of trimming, jinning it, bend it according to taste and wait a few seasons.
Thanks LB

If thicker..
Wire the top, bend it in the shape you want and lit it grow for a season or two.
It will create a thicker trunk faster. THen when you yin it, it is grown to shape.
