Harry Harrington seems to agree with this summer or late summer repotting technique on conifers (at least as Mugo Pines are concerned).
Although I suspect that this is susceptible to be extended to other conifers... As Junipers possibly.
That is a nice subject of discussion anyways.

I guess the upper branches need to be shorter, to give this tree a chance to resemble a real pine, but of course you got to wait for back budding closer to the mais trunk to do that (prune them shorter).

yes, i pruned them back last year and got a few buds. but lets see how this growing season goes. hoping for the best cause it does look a little funky as it stands.Clicio wrote: Quite interesting.

Have you considered bringing the left top branch up, as a new trunk? (Do NOT do this now as bending branches damages them, and you could just kill a branch by manipulating too much, wait a few weeks IF you want to do this.).

thats not a bad idea, never thought of that. but with the truck being so straight wouldn't that give me movement i dont want up top?
