After the summerholiday in 2016 in France, i brought a souvenir with me to Holland. As you can see, this tree has much natural deadwood and has a very big nebari: about 20 cm! Before working, at the first picture at the trunk is about 60 cm in height. But there's some special with the tree: when the tree was in his original habitat, thickened part which in now the nebari, was a part of the trunk itself. The original roots are at the left side. There is also a white stone completely stucked in the roots; it's part of the tree. You can see a small part of it at the left site.
At the beginning of the growing season of 2017 the Buxus started growing a little bit. He had made it! I hardly couldn't wait to start training the tree, but it was too early. So i made a virt of the tree.

This could possible be his future looks. I couldn't photoshop all the deadwood at the nebari to a nicer shape, so nothing changed about that.
Because of the long thick root to the left, i put it on a slab. I think its the most natural solution of the problem, at this moment. Maybe there will grow more roots near the nebari, so i cut the long 'root'. The size of the tree should become almost 30 cm.

At the end of this season the tree was healty enough to select some small branches. I put some wire around them and bend them in the right direction. I think that this is a good step to develop a nice bonsai. But this will cost at least about 6 years. Maybe more... What exactly to do with the deadwood, i don't know yet. But time will tell.
To be continued...

Very nice material, congrats
I wouldn?t alter the deadwood in any way just preserve it with some wood hardener.
And I would carve the top "jin" somehow to go with it.
Good luck and I am looking forward to development of this beauty too

hmm strange photo in this topic... that doesn't belong here.... It had to be this picture (may 2018)
Anyway, sometimes ideas and plans can change. Last season this three was repotted in a bonsai pot. To show the embraced stone more, the tree is planted much higher. The idea is now that the first branch left has to grow much more, with more levels in it. Also at the right side will change: Several more branches at the bottom end. And also it needs much more time to become mature.. But he's developing fast!
