I've got a jap maple and the end of some of the leavs turned blackish. It looks like its been burnt. It has some whitish stuff on it that looks like ash and it can be removed by the tip of my finger but the end of the leaves remain black. What could be the cause?

It was close to the output of my air-conditioning. Like 2 metres. It has blown dry and warm air out for a good two hours. Could it be that it dried the leaves and caused the tip of the leaves turning black?

Doesn't seem to be the cause. Did you examine the white 'ash'? Did it move?

No it did not. It could be easily removed by my finger. It really looked like ash. I would not say powder because it was not so fine. Just like ash. The black parts of the leaves did not expand. It stayed the same. I investigated the whole tree. There arent any visible living creature

If it is inside then that is the problem. Maples along with all hardy species need to be out.

No problem. Its outside of course. How about mineral deficiency? Does it leave marks like this? I am asking because the trader told me not to feed it during fall/winter. Only in spring and summer with Biogold. Im very confused because Im new and I read a few articles and posts that said I should feed this time of the year as well but I need to use another NPK ratio. Some says it should be the same food but use it rarely. I dont know what to do

Considering autumn is starting, the plant looks quite OK to me. Mine look worse (Acer Palmatum Kiyohime).

The black spots are not caused by a nutrient deficiency though.

Do you feed decidious trees? I mean in fall and winter. And how?

I feed spring, summer, autmn, as long as the temperatures are above 12 C., with whatever I have available.
