Crane fly larvae? was created by TURFFREY

Hello!
New to bonsai and botany in general. Just found this little critter, can anyone confirm whether this is a Crane Fly larvae, and if so, is it a problem?

Thanks in advance

Background info:
I recently purchased a bonsai, Chinese Elm. Originally, I think I had a spider mite problem (despite the sellers denial), that has since subsided. The tree she'd most of its leaves as it began adjusting to the new surroundings (heat, humidity & sun exposure), but new leaves and branches grew. I then went on holiday for about 10 days, and forgot to get someone to water it. All the leaves had fallen and the soil was very dry. I have since watered it and gave it bonsai plant food. I then noticed this critter poking out the surface, so I removed it. See picture.

Yes it is. The stage this is in, it is morphing into the adult stage. I personally do not worry about them.

For some reason, people thing that fertilising will revive their tree, when in fact it does the opposite.
You didn't water it for 10 days, it is probably dead regardless of the larva.

Well, there are new buds growing all over the tree, so it hasn't died thankfully.

The larvae had nothing to do with leaf loss. If it is still alive then you are lucky. Not watering for that long is not a good idea.
