Hello,
I recently brought home a new tree in the past 3 weeks and noticed after about a week what looks like a fungus problem? I have been cleaning it with a toothbrush ever since noticing but it seems to grow faster then I can clean and has now spread to other trees. Hoping someone has an idea of how to properly treat this.
Can anyone help with a possible ID of this fungus/disease?
First photo shows the new tree I brought home (fungus? On branches). The second photo is of the spread to my black pine. Any help is greatly appreciated as I do not want to loose all my trees.

That is lichen. A symbiosis of algea and fungus. Harmless except for when it tarts to cover the buds. i think a light spray with vinegar solution should help, and/or putting theplant in the wind & sun to stimulate drying of the tree.
