When the months are colder, red spider mites refuge in the soil. When it gets warm again, they come back up to suck the sap from the tree. The only way they can get back up from the soil is by sensing the pull of gravity and regulating whats up and down. What if you turned the pot upside down securely so the tree would not fall (only for a short period so the tree wont be damaged). You could put some kind of bug trap on the bottom of the pot. When the red spider mites come back UP to suck the sap, they wont be even near the tree and will be killed by the trap. It would by hard to make up and would be less harmfull to the small bonsai (shohin). But could it be possible?
Any comment would be appreciated, thanks.

What? Is it April 1st?
There should be mesh in the pot anyway. But no, that will not work. The soil will fall out of the pot, There must be other reasons not to.I don't have problems with them so I won't be even thinking about it,
Geoff.
