These are my first trees bought from a green grocer who just called them 'bonsai'. I know my local trees very well and think one looks like a beech tree and think the other might be ficus but can't find anything online that looks close enough to be sure so any insight you guys have would be very much appreciated.

- Please try to identify them yourself using the Tree Species guide, top of the page. If you still cannot identify them
- Ask the seller what they are. If he doesn't know:
- Post better pictures that are not out of focus and not tilted and include close-ups of the leaves.

Tips for the future:
- Do not buy "bonsai" that are labelled bonsai without the proper species name.
- Decide what species to buy BEFORE buying it, so you know in advance if they are suitable for the environment you're going to put them in.

Thank you for your advice and I will certainly follow these rules in the future. I have already tried to identify myself and used the identification tool and still have no idea. I hope the new photos will be better but I only have my phone to take photos with.

Ulmus Parviflora and Sageretia Theezans. Both quite common, it should not have been that hard to identify them.

Big thank you to Auk for helping. Guessing this is a common noob mistake and knowledge gap. I will improve my recognition with practice and also enroll on the course offered on this website to ensure I get it right next time I buy a tree .
