Hi all just a quick question on some of the older tips on my old shimpaku ive noticed over the last week or so that some of the oldest foliage the tips are turning brown.
All the new growth is really happy im just wondering if its shedding its oldest needles or its me doing this some how or maybe something sinister at play.

Here is a pic of the whole tree.
This tree has been in recovery at greenwood bonsai, corin tomlinsons nursery for over a year where the previous owner let it get over grown and neglected so corin cut it back alot and repotted it. This happend over 12 months back.
It was at that time i brought it.
With the intention of letting it grow back and getting the foliage back closer to the trunk and more healthy then when it has enough foliage and more to work with it will get another styling in a few years or more when its ready.

Another pic of the old foliage turning brown.
As you can see it only seems to be the old and furthest back needles. All the young growth is unhindered by this.
Also before you ask the tree gets full sun from 11am till the end of the day so it gets plenty of sun.
And also i belive i watervit correctly as none of my other trees seem to show any signs and are very happy.

Junipers will drop their older needles. The tree looks healthy to me and if the young growth stays fresh and green, personally, I wouldn worry.
Looks like a tree with a lot of potential. Nice to see such trees once in a while on this forum.
