after you bonsai a pine tree or juniper etc, where do you keep it in the winter
I am very new at this!!!

All trees, bonsai or not, belong in their natural environment. Pines and junipers must be outdoors.

they survive i the shallow pots? anything special you should do to protect them

Depends on your climate and the species, but pines and junipers in general can tolerate a lot. I'd look up the specific species and find their temperature tolerance.
If it gets really cold, you may want to protect them by placing them in an unheated shed.
