Where can i buy seeds for a Japanese maple tree to have as a bonsai?
I've never done bonsai before, however i think it will be fun to try :) i would want to have the tree inside on my desk.
i was looking on eBay for some seeds, however i don't trust them as some of them have crazy colours like blue leaves etc (is that even possible on a bonsai tree? or any tree)
i live in the UK, will the tree survive?

it would take 15-20 years to have it on your desk if you try to grow it from seeds. Not like it would survive indoors. There is no such thing as 'indoor' tree. There are trees that can tolerate indoor climate to a certain point. Japenese maple is not one of them.

Anywhere where you can buy Japanese maple tree seed. There is no such thing as bonsai seed. I'd try (the webshop of) a reputable seed handler in your area.

You are not trying bonsai, you are trying to grow a tree. You cannot create a bonsai by planting a seed and keeping it small.

Trees do not grow indoors. Maples must be kept outdoors.

No. These photos are photoshopped and it is a fraud. Blue or even purple maples do not exist.

Of course. However, you do not seem to have a lot of horticultural knowledge. Creating a bonsai really requires some basic knowledge about trees, how they grow, where they grow, what climate they require, and how to take care for them. Without such basic knowledge, trying to create a bonsai is not going to be a succes.

I suggest you start with learning about trees. Do start growing your maples. It'll be fun and you have more than enough time to learn about bonsai, before doing anything with your seedlings.

I really cant add anything to what Auk said, just know that this craft is fun and a hell of serious stuff all together. I would encourage you to give it a go and see if its your thing or not, just always remember you deal with real living spices and they are no joke. Show em love and care and they will give back. Good luck.

Have a look for a local club. They may have a show, buy a book and read how to grow and then style and keep the species that are used for bonsai. If you must sow seed, at least have something to do while you wait. Go to a garden centre, or nursery or better still a bonsai nursery and look at what is available. You can get trees or a decent size that can be pruned, and styled and even if they are not good bonsai it is something to practise with. Have a look at the F.O.B.B.S. web site fr the location of the british clubs.
