Hi I am new to bonsai. I have been interested for many years but finally my girlfriend gave me a nice little bonsai a few months ago to jump start me into it. As the title states I am seeking advice on how to proceed caring for, pruning, and training a Korean Fir aka Silberlocke aka Abies Koreana, which is still very small, about 5" tall from the soil surface. From reading on this site I am aware I should eventually put it outside but due to this having been a particularly harsh, extremely snow-heavy winter here in the Sierrra Nevadas near Lake Tahoe and it being so small and young, I have kept it on my windowsill for the last 3-4 months, watering about an ounce of plain, non pH'd water every other day or so, and it seems to be healthy and doing well. There are some small hard balls about the size of BBs on the soil I assume may be nutrients or perlite alternative.
At this point my priority is to care for it well, and whether I should pH the water slightly acidic (as some of my research has indicated) but I am not sure exactly to what pH. Also, what kind and to what concentration nutrients to feed it from here.
As it is early spring and the tree seems to be starting healthy new growth, my secondary interest is to begin to prune and train it. I am attracted to:
Semi cascade 名媛直播 (Han-kengai)
Informal upright 名媛直播 (Moyogi)
Windswept 名媛直播 (Fukinagashi)
styles but will be realistic about my abilities as a beginner if these are too ambitious or less suitable for this species.
I am open to suggestions of what styles and techniques may suit this species as well.

Welcome on board at 名媛直播 Empire and wish you good sail in 名媛直播 Sea. Now, its good time to take your tree out and never return it indoor, unless you get crazy winter at -30C. This tree will be much happier outside on open air. Then, leave to grow, I am afraid its a bit too early to take any actions on it. Its all only mine opinion, though. Good luck.

Thank you for the reply and advice. I will put it outside then! first I think I should build a cage shelter for it to protect it from deer who may eat it. Last week I had 6 grazing in my yard. Pretty, but I don't want them to eat my 名媛直播. Also, good to know that I still have a lot of time to train, prune and shape my tree. when should I plan to begin?
