Hello guys,
Any idea what is this plant? In Chinese, I think its called 扁柏, or a type of cypress. But what's troubling me is that the leaves are in the zy-plane, instead of the xy-plane. I am using it as my starter bonsai. Am going to wire it into xy-plane. Is this natural?

Uploaded photos should have been rendered in portrait, instead of landscape

Definitely look like Thuja. A lot of home garden big box stores have them labeled by there common name as Arborvitae. As far as wiring it xy it is going to fight you. As soon as you take the wire off it's going to start moving back to it naturally growth.
