Hey there,
I recencetly received a bonsai for my birthday and I am unsure of a few things: WHAT KIND IS IT? And any advice as far as how to take care of this kind specifically?
I live in MD in an apartment that doesn't face the sun so I'm currently looking for ways to compensate for the lack of sunlight on my balcony (there is nowhere else I can put it to get better sun) so any advice would be appreciated. Also I have pics of the bonsai so if anyone sees any problems PLEASE LET ME KNOW!
Hopefully I haven't already killed it
Thanks,
Shermiano

Sorry, that's not a bonsai. It's a young juniper cutting.
Doesn't look dead to me, so I'm not sure why you are worried?
I do see the soil is very, very much too wet. Did you recently water it (as in: minutes ago?)
Not sure if you mean you keep it on the balcony or indoors - but do note this plant cannot be kept indoors - it needs to be outside.
Also, use the search function. Plants like this are posted on a daily basis, same species, the plant usually in the same state, and the poster asking the exact same questions.
For care guidelines, use the species guide, top of the page.

Thanks for your response. Couple things.
1) so since it's not a bonsai does that mean I got scammed?
2) yes I literally just watered it before taking the pics.
3) it's outside. My apartment balcony is outside and that's where I keep it.

That may depend on your point of view. It's a decorative plant in a decorative pot with a decorative fisherman. So, it's a decorative plant.
I think these things are sold at about USD 30,00. In my humble opinion, that's a too high price. If you like the plant and are willing to pay the amount, you 're not scammed. 名媛直播 is an art, each tree is unique. However, your plant is a cheap mass product, an imitation bonsai.
To compare, have a look here at some real bonsai:
2) yes I literally just watered it before taking the pics.
OK. The soil doesn't seem to drain well though. Make sure it doesn't stay too wet for too long.
3) it's outside. My apartment balcony is outside and that's where I keep it.
Good.

Soooo....long story short, your point is that my juniper "decoration" plant will never grow into the bonsais in the link you sent me?

That's not what I'm saying. It is possible, but it takes study, practice, experience, talent and a few decades.
Not trying to discourage you, just being realistic. You can achieve a result quicker if you go for a smaller tree. That still will take many years.
What you have now is just a young plant (less than 2 years old). You can also save time by acquiring more mature material.
