What Acer is this?

Last November I bought this acer without leaves and the florist only indicated it was an acer. Expecting a Palmatum I was surprised to see this beautiful plant. What species is it? Should I vase it or is it too late? Thanks for any help and advice.

But the palmatum has only 5 points in its leaves, unless the purpureum has more....
Mine has 7-9

The palmatum doesn't have 5 points necessarily. Do note that Acer Palmatum has been developed for centuries. There are numerous cultivars.
Could be an 'Atropurpureum' - or another variety. Does it matter?

In my climate it wouldn't be too late, but looking at the tree I'd say yes.
Also depends on what you mean with repotting - slip pot it into a larger pot? The tree doesn't seem ready to be put into a smaller pot - and there will probably be a graft that's going to be a problem (not for repotting, but for the design).
Personally, I would plant this tree in my garden - and I'd probably leave it there.

If you have to ask, yes. You can repot as it is. I have done.maple reppts in august. But you have to know what you are doing and be able to provide good aftercare. If this is your first, i would just place it in a bigger pot with better substrate and full repot next year.

Thanks for the replies and information.
I will leave as is for now and repot later in the year.
