Hello!

I am new to owning a bonsai and I'm very excited!

This is Handa and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how he looks and what/what not to do.

I've been checking his soil every day and watering him when it's dry. Which turns out to be every day or every other day. I keep him outside in a semi-shaded spot.

If you keep this plant inside for much longer it will be dead. Get it outside where it belongs, it is looking quite sick already.

This is essentially a young juniper without significant bonsai training. If you'd put it in a nursery pot, it would just look like any other common nursery juniper.
The tree currently cannot be considered a bonsai. It will take years of study, practice, growth and training for this to become a bonsai.

Could be the lighting, but the plant doesn't seem to be in optimal health.
The soil looks far too wet.

To answer your age question I would guess 3-4 years old and grown from cutting.
