Hi all. I am a beginner and I dont know why my trident maple isnt doing too well. I water every day or two, it gets a lot of direct sunlight i live in the desert (70F-85F lately) facing east and have nothing blocking all the sun untill about 4pm. I believe the sun may actually be the problem. the color is ok but the leaves are soft and drooping. any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Bavinnie. Sorry, but this tree looks dried out to me. You say you are in desert, where is that? Not sure maples are made for deserts.

Seems the tree is in a bonsai pot? Why?

Start off by moving it into the shade and out of any dry wind there may be. Then ensure you water the plant sufficiently. Anything else you can tell us about the way you care for the plant?

I water the tree every day or two depending on the Soil. I feel as though I am under watering the tree, but I have been watering daily. I am able to keep it outside in direct light or shade it. To answer the question why is it in a pot. I purchased the tree like that. I have always wanted a maple and so went out and bought one. Also I have been reading about humidity trays perhaps that would be a good idea?

Humidity trays are a myth. They do not affect the moisture levels.
