Is my bonsai over or under watered? (pics includ) was created by Krcasill

I got my bonsai a month ago. I have been watering it approximately once a week which I just learned is not good... once the soil is dry is when I should water so I suspect it is possibly overwatered but I included pictures because I want to be sure because when I looked at it today there were tiny spider webs on it so maybe that has to do with it too. I also just changed it's location it was originally in the middle of my dining table but I moved it to the window sill in the kitchen because I was worried it wasn't getting enough sunlight. Oh and I got it at Wal-Mart so no proper identification of the species. Experienced opinions please. Attached are the pictures of it's current state. I'm worried about the little spots on the leaves.

First thing I would worry about is the webs you mentioned. This possibly could be spider mites.
Does the pot it is in have drainage holes? If it doesn't then it will be very hard to keep this plant healthy.
If you purchased it from Wal-Mart a month ago I would consider taking it back for a refund. This was sold to you with a label of it being a bonsai but in fact it is not a true bonsai. The plant you have we would classify a mallsai which is mass produced and doesn't resemble an old tree. Please do not get discouraged a good many people start out this way. I would recommend this site for care of the Ficus Ginseng if you choose to keep it.

Thank you so much for your insight! That's exactly what it looks like it is spider mites! I just bought some Neem oil to hopefully treat it. I'm going to go ahead and keep it since it wasn't that expensive. Worse case scenario if it doesn't get better I will buy a real bonsai next time. Again I feel so much better now knowing what it is thank you so much!

Bender is pretty much right, so follow up every single word he speaks, especially the drainage holes. You may keep the tree I hope you find good use of it, at least basic care training may be. Just keep in mind, bonsai are not sold in stores, and if you ever get to buy one it may cost you quite a lot. Actally bonsai is unique path everyone takes and there is little sense in buying or selling. What you look is good pre bonsai from special nurceries or online, but for that you may have to learn a bit first and look bonsai work here and there. Good luck.

Yes, the pot does have a drainage hole. And you are definitively right I think this will serve as a good training experience. Glad this forum is active. I will definitely have to do a lot more research and will most likely have a lot more questions if and when I do get a real bonsai. With that being said, thank you for your input! The more knowledge the better!
