Hello! I started growing an oak from an acorn last autumn and it has now begun its journey to a tree.
At first I didnt think of it as a bonsai candidate but have since fallen for this beautiful art and am now thinking that I might give it a chance. I realize I'm years away from even calling it a bonsai, but I'm guessing you guys still have some tips on how to give this little guy the best chance of becoming a bonsai later in life.
At the moment it's about 5 months old and I have it indoors in a relatively small pot with standard gardening soil. What is the next step and when should I take that step? Should I repot to a bigger pot with different substrate? Should it move outside?
Greatful for all your tips!

Oaks belong outdoors.
Plant it in your garden and let it grow for a couple of years until the trunk is big enough.
Meanwhile, take the time to study the subject. You've got lots of time.
