I've got a 15 year bouganvilla that isn't flowering like it used to. I trimmed back the roots a couple years back but i'm wondering if I did it right. It was so root bound that i basically took a power washer to it and blasted off as much soil as I could and then trimmed the roots back some, but there was still a lot of old roots and old soil left. I just looked at the roots and they don't appear to be root bound. I don't feed it a lot and when I do I use Miracle Grow bonsai food. Any sugestions on how to get it to flower again. The branches are sparse with four or five normal sized flowers and a lot of baby flowers that don't seem to grow to big ones. I'm in the San Diego area and normally it would be flowering big time at this time of the year.

Hi and welcome Jeffy. Can you put some pictures up here. No such thing as bonsai food, just to make note.

Odd. In general bougainville flowers better when it is short in nutrients and space. So probably i would let it get root bound again, and limit the fertilizer. Als, check generic ggardening fora. Bougainville are not often seenon this forum.
