1. I have discovered white spots underneath the leaves of my bonsai (I have only had the tree for 3 days), should I be concerned? I will add pictures when I am able to.
2. Do you have any tips a beginner should know either about bonsai and bonsai care in general? Or about Japanese maple trees specifically?
3. I have been keeping my bonsai tree on my windowsill where with the blinds over my window have closed (and my window is a South-facing window) and I have a vent near the windowsill. Is this enough light for the tree? And should I move/cover/block the vent? It is already dry in Idaho and I don't want to make it worse.
Thank you for time!

First study the subject, then buy a tree.

Trees do not belong indoors.

I don't know what 14 F is. A couple of degrees frost (below 0 C) shouldn't be an issue. Do protect it from the wind (won't be an issue now as it will have no leaves though)

Were those maples newly acquired and out of dormancy?

If you acquire onenow, it should be dormant.

Posted 7 years 10 months ago #29544Nope. The question is whether maples can stay outdoors during a few degrees of frost. The answer is, yes they can.Solaris wrote: Were those maples newly acquired and out of dormancy?
Naturally, if one were to keep one indoors untill mid-winter and then puts it outside in -10c, it would die.
