Hi all,
I am very new to this and still researching bonsai. I actually would like to keep a bonsai in my office at work. It gets good circulation and I have decent space, but I only have artificial light in my office. Would it be possible to use a florescent and/or LED during the week and have a bonsai survive? I teach and can move the tree to one of several large windows (facing all directions) in unused classrooms during the weekend and even overnight, but I switch rooms and wouldn't want to leave it unattended with unknown students.
If this is remotely possible, what type of plant would you suggest? I haven't chosen one yet because I wanted advice first. Thank you for helping me.

I have never seen a post about bonsai that thrive in an office environment. However, frequently people post topics about their "bonsai" (quite often not a real bonsai, but a mallsai or a Ficus Ginseng) that is dying.
Trees don't do too well at offices. The climate just isn't right. 名媛直播 in particular will have a hard life and won't live long - regardless the grow light.

Thank you for your response. I kind of suspected that. I think I will still try to grow one, but at home where I have some natural light. I still have to decide what is a good beginner one though.

I grow lots of plants in my office. Ficus does well. But also some of the tropical hibiscus does well. I would presume the tropical liguster could do well too.
The hibiscus Iam growing from a cutting, now abnout 4 years permanenly in the office. Spider mites are an issue with this species indoors though. And they do not make for good bonsai

Thank you! We had a hibiscus growing up that was indoors, but I never thought of having one at work. They are beautiful, so that is a real contender for me. I have a shelf of cleaning supplies in my office, so I can always keep a bottle of spider mite spray there. I appreciate the suggestions.
