I have checked around a bit but i am not able to get a positive identification as to what specific type of ficus this is.
Attached is an image from when i first received it, it was given to me as it was not doing well with the original owner and it was hoped i would be able to bring it back to good heath. so far it has been doing very well, and i even have a number of cuttings now from it. I figured with the cuttings and everything i should get a more specific ID than just "its a ficus" hopefully you guys can help confirm its type. I can provide more images as needed. Right now i have it wrapped up a bit to encourage more areal roots from the the trunk but can still get other leaf pictures or anything else that's needed.

This forum is about bonsai.
Maybe better ask at a ficus forum like this one?

Im growing it as a bonsai now, but i dont see that having anything to do with the identification, unless what you mean is that this is a species that is not normally done as a bonsia

At a Ficus forum, they will have more knowledge about different ficus species.

Please post a picture of the older plant.
It is a ficus bejamina. Not ideal for bonsai, although I am tryng to get one to grow. From what you have there to bonsai, unless you are in the tropics, count on 15-20 years.
