So yesterday I decided to soak some Red Maple seeds, and I read online that you need to use hot water to break them down. So I got some hot water (cool enough that I could keep my hand in it without a problem) and let them soak. The thing is, I set the cup of water and seeds in front of this little space heater I have to keep the water at a good temperature. When I went to check the water about 30 mins to an hour later, the water was pretty hot to where I could only keep my fingers in for a couple seconds without them burning. Could this have ruined the seeds potential to grow? Im not sure what kind of temperatures the seeds can handle so I thought I would just ask here. None of the seeds had sank, but I put them in some soil and popped them in the fridge anyways, hoping for the best. Any help would be appreciated

Yes. It can very well have sterilized the seeds. Seeds are not made to withstand very high tempreatures.
Just plant the seeds in a pot. Chuck them in the cold outside. and see what sprouts come spring. ( )
