New Golden Gate Ficus Not Bouncing Back was created by jeffutter

Hi there,

I am new to 名媛直播 and received a new (to me) Golden Gate Ficus as a gift about five days ago. The tree is supposedly ~8 years old, from an online retailer. When I received the tree the leaves looked more mud-brown than green. I was told that it had been left outdoors overnight in the cold (15 degrees Fahrenheit) in the box it shipped in.

Since I received the tree, I have watered it every day and provided it with the best light I can (An east-facing bay window) and a grow light. In the past five days, the leaves have lost all green and are just brown and have begun shriveling up. None have fallen off yet, but they look as they all may at any moment. I have also started misting the tree for the past two days with no noticeable change.

One concern I have is the soil, it doesn't seem to hold any water. I can pour 3/4c water over the top of the soil and it seems to nearly all end up in the tray below the plant. The soil feels somewhat moist to the touch but far from sopping wet.

I'm not really sure what to do. Should I water with less volume but more frequently? Should I repot the tree it into better soil? Is there any hope?

Thanks for any advice.

If the tree was frozen you can throw it away (Or better, make a claim with the retailer OR kick yourself for not being hoe when it was delivered). Ficus does not do well with frost. Is there any green left anywhere?

Do not transplant. The tree being sick is not caused by the soil, but by the winter weather it had to endure. The roots may be the only living part left.
If water does not enter the soil, you are using water that is too cold. Use water that is lukewarm. only water when the soil is about to dry out. Most ficus hate wet feet.
