Having trouble with Species

Hey everyone,
I've been surfing the web for a quite some time now after buying my first small tree. From what I gather, it's very infant and could take some time to develop and hopefully I can craft it into a nice little tree eventually. 名媛直播's have always interested me, and I'm really looking to get into growing them, I still have a lot of research and learning to do but for now I bought this little guy as a starter, mainly to see if I can keep it alive. As of now I have it inside, winter is nearly in full swing here in Eastern Canada and I'm afraid the cold may kill it.
A little background, I purchased this very cheap at a local nursery. I honestly just grabbed it and didn't ask about it. I have no idea the species, although I believe it's some form of spruce? I realize this may be what you guys refer to as a "Mallsai", and at this point I'm fine with that. I'm simply just dipping my toes into this vast art form.
I do plan on researching and finding a good starter tree, something proper that can be easily grown and maintained to start, and that's why I'm here. Would love any advice, and I look forward to getting to know many of you in my readings here.
Thanks in advance!

It is a young juniper cutting. Keeping it indoors will kill it.

It's a cut of branch that has grown roots. It has got no bonsai qualities. Growing this into a pre-bonsai will take at least 15 years. Creating a bonsai out of it will take longer than that. For a real good tree, add 2 or 3 decades. 名媛直播 are NOT created by training small plants in small pots.
This is not a pre-bonsai but just a young plant. You are starting from scratch.

No, not a mallsai, just a young plant. A mallsai, though a low quality plant, has at least had a few years of training.
Plants like this are posted often on this forum - there even was one posted today. Use the search function.

Good to know, thanks for the clarification! Looks like I'll be starting from scratch. I might try my hand at a Juniper bonsai, I've read they are beginner friendly being a strong tree. Although a Ficus 名媛直播 might interest me the most, seeing as I'd like an indoor 名媛直播. Until I have a better method of tending to an outdoor tree with the cold winter months here. Very excited to give it a shot!
Thanks again!
