Hi all, sorry for creating a second thread in a single day (I am a newbie taking care of the Boss's Tree), on my I was just to identify what sort of tree I am taking care off, but since then I started to analise it closer and found out some things that made me worried :( :
  • All leaves are dry, by touching it some will fell very easily;
  • The soil is damp, I did water it today;
  • There was a white worm with a yellow head under the pot, moving quite frenectically; :dry:
Is there anything you can recommend to improve the health of the tree?
I attached a photo of the tree and other of the worm.
Thanks in advance!

That is one sick plant. I am not sure the worm is anything to do with the problem. Where is it kept? When is it (has it been ) watered? You need to learn how to water and the correct time, wait ununtil the soil is almost dry then soak. Does the water drain quickly? If the soil was damp you should not have watered. Where is it kept? How much sun does it get?

Thank you for your attention m5eaygeoff

The tree was in my office until a few hours ago, it is my Boss' tree, he went on holidays and I volunteered to take care of it (bringing it home for the holidays). I am completely newbie to this, so I apologise if I sound silly, I just want to help this tree get in a better shape :)

Our office is in London, but it get very bright when it is sunny. It was not directly exposed to the sun, my Boss's desk doesn't receive lots of direct sunshine.

The temperature is the air con one, fresh in summer and warm in winter, never too cold, never too hot - but I am not sure how bad it is for a tree not to receive natural heating.

My boss keeps a sheet close to the tree to make sure it is taken care of when he is not in the office, we share the task amongst our team to make sure that:
Every Day: Plain water every morning, make earth dump, not weat
Every Monday: Feeding water from a bottle with a mist of food for the plant
Every Friday: Plain water in the end of the day
Nobody is there on weekends, so there is no water.
It does not drains quickly (at least it didn't today, my first time watering it).

The tree is now at my flat, here I can actually open the windows and I do receive plenty of sunshine as well.

Do you think there is hope to this tree? I am willing to do my best to take good care of it!

Thanks again for your time & help!

Carla

Watering every day regardless of the soil being wet or dry is not good. You must check to see if it needs water, not do it anyway. You need to leave it until the soils is almost dry then soak it Almost certainly overwatered, I would leave it now until it is just dry before watering again, so that could be a week, or a few days depending on how warm it is. Keep it in the brightest position you have but not over a heat source. I would stop th fertiliser too, at least until and unless it has recovered. Hopefully, it will start to produce new buds in a week or so,
Geoff.

Thanks a lot for your help Geoff, I am worried about it and is nice to find help online! I am currently starring at the tree, the 2 of us in te living room, trying to find a solution, hehehe. I can't stop researching about it, interesting but overwhelming :) I'm sorry if I am taking much of your time, but might I ask other questions?

1) The worm has disappeared from the plate at the bottom of the pot! Do you think it walked back inside the plant? If I spot it again, should I capture it? :O
2) I ordered a 'misting' spray can device, I don't think we have ever watered the leaves, only dropped water straight into the soil. Do you think this is going to help?
3) Just realised that all my very sunny windows have radiators close by, except kitchen and bathroom ones (sun only in the afternoon). Do you recommend artificial light?
4) Do you have a recommendation to check when the soil is dry? I googled a bit and did the 'wood stick test', but if came out brown of soil, so I assume it means soaked? It is a very hard soil, I can't really dig a finger easily into it.

Thanks, thanks, thanks!
