Hello everyone,
Please help! This is my first 名媛直播. I believe it’s a Sageretia. I got it in the early summer and ended up putting it outside where it flourished. I was going to leave it outside all winter in one of those mini greenhouses (plastic covering) but after a couple of weeks doing so I decided it was getting far too cold to leave outside. I brought inside at the beginning of November and it sits on a windowsill in our living room. It gets quite a bit of sun there but our house does tend to be warm. I regularly give it water but I would say over the past week, it hasn’t ‘drank’ much as there is always water in its pot. A lot of leaves have turned brown and crispy and fallen off and there are quite a few that have turned yellow. Is there anything I can do?
Thank you for any advice!!

That is not Sagaretia, it looks like a poorly Chinese Elm to me. Taking it inside is not the best thing to do, depending on what country you are in. Taking it in is the main cause of leaf drop, but it is naturally deciduous so it will lose leaves in the winter. You need to learn how to water properly, check every day and water when the soil is almost dry. That applies if you are in a temperate climate and not low temperatures, if you have frosty conditions keep it on the dry side and only water when there is no frost. This species is hardy and will withstand -12C with no problem as long as it is not wet. Have a look at bonsai4me.com for species guides.

Thank you! I am in the UK and it's turning cold and frosty at the moment. Should I put it back outside in the greenhouse when it has dried out some? I was worried the frost will kill it.

Frost will not kill it. If you have a cold greenhouse yes, put it in there for a few days while it is cold, but then take it out once is is a bit milder. Where in th UK are you> There is a difference from north to south,

Thank you Geoff. I am in the South East so a bit milder perhaps. I have put it back in the greenhouse so fingers crossed that will help. Hopefully we will have a few nicer days soon, in which case I will sit it on in some sunshine
Thank you for your very helpful advice.
