We've recently acquired our 名媛直播 from a small store within a local marketplace. The one we chose was under a shelf on the table where the sunlight from the overhead glass ceiling wasn't reaching it (at least not when we were purchasing it). The lady told us to water 1/8 of a cup daily at the around the same time and give it lots of sunlight. She also told us that it was best to keep this bonsai indoors (we live in Canada, and the weather varies and can be harsh) and that we shouldn't need to fertilize it until we re-pot it next spring.

Our apartment doesn't get any direct sunlight (facing North under a bridge) but we get plenty of natural light from large windows. We've been keeping our bonsai indoors next to the window so that it gathers as much sunlight as it can. We've also been misting it in the morning every day.

However, it's starting to turn brown and the needles are getting really dry and prickly, compared to how soft and smooth they were when we first purchased it. We were debating pruning the dead branches to help it grow, but we aren't sure if it was a good idea. We also don't know what caused it to turn brown in the first place. Are we not watering it enough? Is it not getting enough sunlight? Or is this just a sign of winter?

If anyone can help us identify and rejuvenate our little bonsai, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

This is a juniper procumbens nana. You should NEVER keep junipers indoors. There is no specific amount of water you need to give it. You should when the soil gets a bit dry instead of watering on a regular basis. You should liquid fertilize it or use pellets regularly throughout the year.

,*Note: This isn't a bonsai tree and it shouldn't be a bonsai pot. Don't ask me why.

It needs a bigger pot, if you must keep it in one. But, then, if you keep it inside, in the shade, it won't mater much about your pot size, sorry, to break the news.
