Brown leaves on Azalea was created by Jen

:(
I received an Azalea 名媛直播 for Mother's day, which has been doing well until recently. I have kept it outdoors in the correct sunlight as well as checked it for needing water. Recently the leaves have been turning brown, not falling off though. I plan on bringing it in soon to my basement due to the cold weather here in the North East. PLEASE HELP! This is the first gift my 28 year old son really put thought into and I want to get it back to help. I am a first time owner and am pretty clueless!
Thanks in advance.

The leaves do that in the fall, I'm sure they'll fall off later. You might want to look up how to keep bonsai in the winter, the basement would be to warm. We pack our pots in mulched leaves.

that's why we mulch them, then cross our fingers, and wait for spring. If it's much above freezing, your tree will try to grow, then not find enough light, or just stress it self to death, because it missed out on it's winter break. Most trees, just don't do indoors very well, some survive.

Jen... I live in NJ and this is what I just did. I also have an azalea that I put into it's own raised bed and it will stay out for the winter with fingers crossed. Mine goes brown when I give it tap water. So I collect rain water.
With the weather temps jumping around, it may be difficult to create a stabile place for the tree to go dormant. We'll see.

That is beautiful!. I live in a condo development so that is not an option :( I was using tap water though. Should I still be watering it when it is dry?
There is so much I need to learn!

I water my azalea as I need to. Prob about once a day but less in the winter. Make it part of your schedule to check the surface and see if it needs some water. Most of all read as much as you can and try and take a class from a reputable 名媛直播 instructor. Rosade 名媛直播 is a good place.

Most plants cans stay outside unprotwcted for most of the winter. Here in the northwest i find only sensitibe species such as olive, trident and yew need a bit extra protection in flash cold. Keep out of sun and wind.

I never usually have to worry about winter cold because it is pretty warm here. But I do have to worry about raining because it rains a lot.
