like to expand this out to the ficus community/owners
I'm a new member and looking through all the posts it seems alot grow real bonsai's or come from hot country's that benefit ficus/bonsai plants greatly. However i live in the UK Scotland and the seasons change dramatically. So i need to keep my Ficus Microcarpa in a hydroponic that i made and supplement it with Flourescent lights.
My top canopy from the pictures as you can see are baby leafs that are coming through, this was due to sun burn in august. The new leafs however are not growing properly, some are yellow, pale yellow, brown spots and some have brown edges. A good few leafs ontop look dry and wrinkled which i'm now concerned about. My substrate that i use is this -
Its very good drainage grit and i water roughly every other day once the top of the grit becomes dry.
I fertilise once a week with liquid fertiliser but also started using slow release pellets now a few days ago.
I enjoy hearing anybodys experience with the problems that i am having and also any steps i should take.

This is a very unhappy plant. Have you checked for pests?
- Check for scale
- Check for Thrips
- Check for spider mites
I do not see any indication that that is causing it, just... The leaves can look like that due to sucking insects.
More likely, you have repotted recently, and managed to cut too much off. Make sure the soil is not overly wet. Do not fertilize untill you get some health back in the plant.
How do you water? Have a lot of water flowing out of the pot? Or you stop as soon as water reached the bottom of the pot?
