Auk wrote: Oh. In that case, search the forum. An identical question for an identical plant in an identical state was asked and answered recently.

And you still did all the leg work for them. You're a very nice person. You should change your name to google or askAuK.

[quote="Driver170" post=26699Its still a tree like a bonsai and still functions just about the same.[/quote]

No it's not and no it doesn't. Did you notice the soil you recommended is for conifers?

Ficus are about the mosy forgiving species. They do not care about the soil. They care about constant circumstances. The typical f retusas prefer slightly drier soil. I also have f benjamina and they litterallybstand in a bowl with water. No problem at all.

What is bad is swinging between dry and very wet. That causes damage as the roots cannot adjust.

Quite likely yours dried out, then was kept wet. Keep evenly moist. Give it sun. Check for spider mite and thrips. Once it grows, add a little fertilizer.

In the notes for this soil mix it says

Suitable for all conifers including pines, yew, needle junipers and Mediterranean species, in fact any tree that needs a free draining soil mix. Guaranteed to be a revelation!

So any Mediterranean and any tree that needs free draining soil mix! So a ficus fits into here
