Roots and How to Manage them? was created by Foxallrl

Hi all!
I am very new to the whole bonsai thing. I started my own dogwood (which I have just put outside -not realizing it needed to go through the whole winter thing) and recently purchased a parrots beak indoor plant from a nursery, which is probably already several years old. However, I took it out to re-pot it and it's root-system was crazy thick! I didn't know what to do, but I cut some of it just so it would fit into my pot, but now I'm not sure if I should've done that, or if i should have cut more. there were no severely thick roots, but the mass of tiny ones was really a lot. How do I do roots? Any constructive criticism helps.
Cheers

First suggestion is that you think before you act. You have already done it so you'll now have to wait and see.
Second: I'm not going to pretend I know anything about this type of plant. Google it, there are several care guides specifically for this plant. Seems it does tolerate heavy root pruning.
