I'm planning to buy a buxus sempivirens but its leaves are poisonous so are there any things I need to be aware of?

do you mean as far as the leaves being poisonous or as far as boxwood is concerned? don't eat the leaves... if you've handled a lot of the leaves, so that you hands have sap on them, wash them before doing anything else... some places recommend gloves. It depends on how much contact you have with the poisonous parts, but as far as I am aware it only causes problems if you ingest the poisonous parts of the plant.

Indeed. Many plants are slightly or more poisonous. Just dont eat them.

Not sure these are other people's experience with boxwood but they grow back slooooowly. Less triming is better! Speaking from personal experience (look at my avatar that I keep as a reminder)..... :( We have a lot of boxwood ground cover in our landscape around here and I have never heard of any poisoning in pets...not to say it could not happen but I have never heard of it.
