I have started growing from seeds from a bonsai starter kit. Even though these kits are not recommended by most, I have beaten the odds by having multiple stems with two leaves emerge. It has been about 2 or 3 weeks and these 2 leaves have something splitting in between them and I think its a different leaf or something and I really need your guys' input.
Also please look at the stems and look at how thin and weak they look. I'm not sure why this is happening but hopefully some of you bonsai masters can enlighten me on how to make them stronger and therefore give them a fair chance on growing, I am a complete newbie but I have a lot of determination to actually do well.

They were all planted on the same day, yet there is a big difference in the growth of them all. The pot which has the 2 tallest are 'splitting' and I just wanted to know why.

Looks like they are adding on a secondary set of leaves....that is a good thing. Some time with new seedlings the seed casing will be part of the new leaf and will eventually fall off. Don't worry about the stems yet...they will continue to develop. Just keep doing what you are doing. Plenty of sun I assume and a moist seed bed. Your seedlings look healthy. Good job! What kind of plant are they?

What do you mean you have 'beaten the odds' ?

Many articles I have read and people that I have talked to said that these kits had a very high failure rate and it is unlikely that it will grow. But I probably didn't have to be so dramatic! lol

Thank you so much for the feedback! I appreciate it. Hopefully they survive to be amazing. Unfortunately, I am not sure what species of tree they are yet, maybe in a few months there will be enough so I can identify them. I'm glad they are healthy as I was getting a bit worried about the stems.

Well... they germinated, but that's about all for now. They still need to grow and get strong. You have not beaten the odds.
As you already noticed they are quite thin. Seems some of them are thinner lower down than higher up, which is not a good sign.

These are tree seeds from ordinary trees. There's no such thing as bonsai seed. If you grow these seedlings, they will not grow into bonsai all by themselves.
It needs years of growth and training. Calling a collection of seeds and soil a 'bonsai kit' is just plain silly.

I have a couple questions for you.
- why would someone who is practicing 名媛直播 know more about germinating seeds, than an arborist or a gardener?
- how come the kit didn't tell you what type of seeds you were buying?
- how do you know these aren't tomato seeds?
- what is your 10 year plans for these seeds?

Thanks for the comments. I know that there are no such things as bonsai seeds, however a 'kit' does kinda make sense because it gives you what you need to at least start growing the trees rather than buying it all separately so for it to be called bonsai kit, its not exactly lying! I appreciate that it will take years to grow and that I will need to learn new skills on taking care of them and shaping them. I'm not sure why a question could cause such strong opinions as my only intention was for feedback and some support just to know that I'm heading in the right direction.

1: I think that you'd have a better chance at finding someone who know more about germinating seeds on another forum than this one.
2: I'm surprised that a kit didn't say what type of seeds they are. Maybe you over looked the label or something
3: I was trying to be funny, not opinionated
4: I really want to know your 10 year plan for these trees. I think it would point you in the right direction or at least make you think about it.
Help isn't always by answering a question. Would you rather be given a fish, or taught how to fish?

I asked this hoping that others that had grown from a seed had any tips or could just let me know how it was looking at such an early stage. The seeds were a mix of various different 'indoor species' so unfortunately I am unsure until a later stage, but I know for a minimum that they are not tomato seeds and lets assume instead that they are one of the ones mentioned on the mixture. If they survive, I have read most of the articles on this website with the exact requirements they need as well as how to look after them an eventually shaping and all of that stuff but once I identify it, I can be a lot more specific, hopefully I can rely on this knowledgable forum for any bizarre questions . In 10 years I hope that they are in a pretty good state, if not then I guess that I would of accepted defeat from seeds and instead, take care of a grown up tree instead. Have you got any tips or comments about my seedlings?

And please remember that we all have to start somewhere!
