New juniper repotted, shade or sun? was created by Mossy moss

I got a juniper from my local garden center and I pruned a lot of the foliage (40-60%). Should I leave it in the sun or under some shade for a while?

Junipers are pretty hardy. I have heard you can keep them in semi shade for a couple of weeks than full sun. Not sure what your Temps are right now if low enough your juniper could take full sun right now.

Mine love full sun, but that is Michigan USA sun. I think New Z has much stronger rays.

I would say if you could get it to be in the sun from sun rise till noon and have it in indirect sunlight or maybe shade. for the rest of the day it will be great. If you can position it near a fence to where the sun rays hit it till noon or a bit after and then it gets shade it will be perfect. Like Ruth said, I the in the US, so I am not sure of the sun rays over in New Zealand. I would love to see some pictures of the tree!

mostly shade for a week or two, then gradually, move to partial shade. Junipers are tough, but not invincible. Heavy pruning, is touchy, they don't back bud well. Did you take any pictures? before and after.

After ppruning, mine go back to whre they were in full sun. After repitting with extensive rootwork i give.them some two weeks partial sun, typically in the shade of a big tree.
