Just noticed that my bonsai I've had for just over a month has white furry mold growing. Looks almost like spiderwebs. I have been using rape seed cakes for fertilization and the fungus/mold has mainly been growing around/under it and has now spread to other areas including a visible root. Put the tree outside today to see if drying it out would help?? not sure what to do.. will post picture if the mold comes back. Any recommendations?

That kind of mold is common on fertilizer indoors, that? s why I use only liquid fertilizer for my ficus.
Or I might use small pellets ocassionally but I stick them into the substrate and cover it with it.

On the subject of Ficus.. In Southern California when can I transplant a ficus patio tree into a bonsai pot. It is currently in a 14" terra cotta pot I was thinking about putting it into a training pot.

Depends on the tree and its stage of development.
If it's a 'Ginseng' I cannot help you.

Ficus can be repotted as long as it is warm. They thrive in heat. I do not know your climate or the plant. If it is happy and growing and the weather is good, i do not see why not now. Hope you have a plant ready for a bonsaipot though.
