Can I grow Japanese Black Pine in a pot that I leave outside in Zone 6? The plant is hardy to Zone 5, but the roots are not.

I don't get it. Why would the tree be zone 5, except the roots? Could make sense if the tree was grafted - but it is a black pine, so it won't be.
